These bits and pieces have laid the foundation for Ronny-G’s Life and his story.
Gina Wolfenden-McDowell was born on 9 July 1974 in Durban, a coastal city of South Africa where she lives today. Gina’s father, Samuel (Sammy) was born in Northern Ireland and on a working trip to South Africa, met her mother, Sarah, where they were married.
Gina was a real tomboy as a child, loving the outdoors and animals.
Gina started her formal scholastic career in Durban, South Africa in 1981, matriculating in 1992.
Unfortunately Gina’s father lost his life in a tragic motorcycle accident in 1983 when Gina was eight. Gina attended school for a brief period in Randalstown, Northern Ireland.
As a teenager, Gina discovered a love for travel around South Africa and abroad. Gina studied hard completing her tertiary education at the University of KwaZulu-Natal in 2000.
She obtained her Bachelor of Primary Education, Bachelor of Education (cum laude) and Masters in Education. Her research work involved a dissertation titled Further Education and Training for Individuals with Disabilities: A Case Study of the Training Academy for Disabled in KwaZulu-Natal. Gina worked for the next ten years as a teacher, teaching in South Africa and abroad. It was during this time that she strapped on her travelling boots, walking all over the world.
She married her Scottish Civil Engineer husband, Ronald in 2006 on a beach in Thailand.
Gina and Ronald had their son, Samuel on the 28 July 2010. He is affectionately called Sammy, after his grandfather.
Gina writes stories for all ages and hopes to complete her PhD one day, but not today.
